| Southeast Asia |
| Countries across Southeast Asia have put in place incentives schemes to attract much-coveted foreign direct investment (FDI) in the hope of advancing economic growth and development through capital inflows and positive 'spill-over' effects on the wider economy. The actual impacts of such incentives, however, remain poorly understood. Existing research has focused primarily on certain economic impacts in industrialized countries while analyzes regarding broader socio-economic and environmental impacts, in particular in developing countries, remain limited. Identifying such impacts is certainly a challenge, but also crucial to help promote positive sustainable development outcomes of FDI. |
