I am working for a small company which is specialized in internet trade. As a sales, I believe the mission of all of people is get more and more orders. I also do it. But some times we found it is hardly make clients choose us after quotation, what shall we do? Give up or follow up? That is very importance. I would like to share one thing I met.
I got an inquiry from my USA client on last spring. At that time, he sent ten Price inquiries to Chinese supplier. Of course, I didn’t know this thing at that time. I reply it and accompany with our pricelist in short time. At that time, he was satisfactory of our pricelist, and I thought that is no problem with our working together. And rest assured to do other things. After some days later, I found there was something wrong, my client hadn’t send any information to us.
What is the problem? I sent E-mail to him but he didn’t reply it. That made me some worried. But I still went on send E-mail to him. Thank goodness, he replied it and told me there is a price from one factory is lower than us. That was a bad news to us. My client sent the price to me and asked me whether we should do as the same price. That was a factory owner and they wanted to got the order to give the factory’s price. It is impossible in us because we are trading company , we can’t do business without any profit. At the same time, we can’t reduce our price to make our client thought there is a big profit with us, so I refused but I analysed each cost in this produce treatment. Of course, I showed the price which that factory offered is not possible but I didn’t say any bad word on that factory, in the end, I said: wish you have a good working with **. My client was very surprised and told to me: Jessica , you are so professional. We will do other business with you because most of our directorates had choose that factory. And I will contact you if there is something wrong with this factory. After read that, there was some disappointment but I saw some hope.
I still sent the E-mail to him each week but there was no any information. After three months later, I surprised to saw his letter. OMG, that was really good news to us! He told me: Jessica, I would like to do business with you, please send the price for us! What a surprise am I! I got an opportunity from him. And at this time, he hadn’t sent any inquiry to other suppliers. That is really a nice chance.
I must say I am met him at good time and good place. But I believe everyone would meet client like this. But have you catch the chance? What are you doing at that time? Are you follow up? Good time and good place is very important but the thing is, you must more professional than your client and follow up. And I believe it will win one day.
